So many happy memories of spending time with you, Jean, and all the family Dave. But the most precious one will always be when our 2 families were holidaying on a barge together and our Daughter, Vicky, fell in the canal just as we were mooring. The barge was about to go over the top of her but your quick action catching hold of her hand and dragging her to safety, literally saved her life. We will always be so grateful to you. You were a wonderful friend and we will miss you forever xxxxx

One of my best childhood memories is of a gorgeous, hot summer's day around 1965. You, me, Barry, Dad & Great Uncle George take the horse drawn milk float and 'van' up to Allerton cemetery to rake up and collect the newly cut grass. A free tidy-up for the grounds keeper & free food for the horses. We were supposed to be helping Dad but I think we played more than helped! Hours later, tired and a bit grass stained, Dad & I are precariously perched on top of the mound of grass in the milk float (using our weight to anchor the grass down) while you & Barry are sat surrounded by grass in the roofed van with Uncle George. They drive us all back to the dairy going a fine clip down Woolton Road. Forever after, the smell of freshly cut grass in the sun would bring this memory back to us. A lovely day together. xx

Liverpool Empire, Liverpool Stadium, countless games of football in Clark Gardens, the choir, Stafford Bingley Hall, Belle Vue Manchester, Isle of Man, Garston Parish Church choir, golf at Allerton all memories that are still vivid. You were a great friend and you honoured me by saying I was your oldest friend. I just wanted to share one amusing memory. Sitting in the choir stalls one Sunday after you had been out the night before you promised that when beer went above £1 a pint you were going to give up drinking. Not sure how that went :-)

Dear Dave, I've been best buds with Heather since school and I just wanted to thank you for being so welcoming and kind to me. You and Jean have always made me feel like part of the family. Any time I came over you always came out of the study, greeted me with a big smile and we would have a chat. My fondest memories have been of you setting us all off giggling round the dinner table with either a funny story and/or your infectious laugh. You'd also groan and shake your head at my stupid jokes and I would always feel secretly proud if I managed to make you laugh with a particularly poor pun or 'dad joke' 😂. You used to take Heather, Anthony and I to gigs and I recall thinking you were the coolest dad for quite a few reasons. Firstly, you had a multipla and they are the coolest cars bar none (3 seats in the front?? Cool). Secondly, during the journey you'd be listening to Metallica out of choice; I only know Enter the Sandman because of you. Thirdly, you loved all our headbanging rock music which most less cool dad's understandably hate, you'd be going to the gigs and enjoying our music with us! Cool points x1000. You also introduced me to Marillion and I still listen to them today. Thank you for that. You're going to be missed by so many people because of the cool, funny, kind man that you are.
